Listen Learn Act Academy
WE ARE IGNITERS INSPIRING INDIVIDUALS ACROSS GENERATIONS TO ENGAGE, CONNECT, AND SPARK THEIR PASSION FOR EDUCATION, SERVICE, AND GOOD.
Spark the Change Colorado has received a grant to launch an initiative that brings older and younger AmeriCorps members and AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers together in service. The support comes from Encore.org, a national organization bringing generations together to solve problems and bridge divides.
Listen Learn Act Academy is Spark the Change Colorado’s newest co-generational program, combining the strengths and wisdom of two different generations – Seniors 55+, and 5th graders – to spark positive change in a chosen issue area.
Older and Younger teammates will Listen to each other and local community experts to Learn about this year’s issue: Health, specifically Social Isolation and Food Insecurity. Older and Younger teammates will then work together to Act, creating two service projects for the two issue areas and implementing them through the year. These Action Projects are designed entirely by the Older and Younger team based on their listening and learning experiences.
Our first two cohorts of Listen Learn Act Academy— meeting at Fairview Elementary in Denver and Gaskill Elementary in Centennial— will launch in early 2023!
We are accepting applications from older adults aged 55+ and youth in 5th grade. See the full cohort schedules and apply online by clicking the buttons below. Feel free to reach out to Kelly Streck at email@example.com with questions. Apply Today!
