Attend a Virtual CASA 101 Informational Session!
**Please note these are VIRTUAL informational sessions. Location has been specified as CASA Volunteers must be local to Adams and Broomfield Counties.**
With the current state of uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 outbreak, we recognize that it may be difficult for you to explore volunteer opportunities at this time. However, the need for CASA Volunteers is greater than ever during this isolating and vulnerable time. The coronavirus will have direct impact on the abused and neglected children in our community and their families, and we invite you to learn more about how you can get involved.
CASA, Court-Appointed Special Advocates, is a volunteer-based, nonprofit organization that trains and supervises community members to represent the best interests of child victims of physical, sexual, emotional abuse and neglect that are currently in the judicial system.
A Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) is a trained volunteer who represents the best interests of child victims of physical, sexual, or emotional abuse and neglect that are currently in the judicial system. CASA Volunteers are supervised by CASA team members and work alongside the child's legal and professional team. They ensure that the child's physical, mental, educational and emotional needs are being met, and advocate for the child in court, all the while supporting them in their journey to find a safe and permanent home.
In Adams and Broomfield Counties alone, there are approximately 1,600 children with an open abuse and neglect case. Right now, we serve approximately 500 of these children. However, there are many more children waiting for someone like you to be their voice and speak up for them in court.
CASA of Adams & Broomfield Counties is hosting two virtual CASA 101 Informational Sessions for YOU to learn more about the CASA Volunteer role, expectations and requirements of our Advocates. Please note that in order to become a CASA Volunteer, you must be 21+ years of age, must pass a criminal background check, and must have lived in the United States for the past 7 years.
