A Day On...Martin Luther King Jr. Day is a federal holiday in the United States that honors the life and legacy of civil rights leader, Martin Luther King Jr. Each year, the celebration takes place on the third Monday in January, the Monday closest to his birthday of January 15th. Though schools and offices close for this holiday, it is considered by many as 'A Day On,' rather than a day off. MLK Jr. Day is recognized nationally as a Day of Service, a time to give thanks and give back to our local community, rooted in honoring Dr. King's activism and service to community.
