Intro to Board Service Training
Spark the Change Colorado presents Intro to Board Service, a 90-minute training geared toward any person looking to join a board for the first time. Board membership is an opportunity to connect the goals and aspirations of individuals to organizations, making an impact on our society’s most pressing needs. Learn about the basics of board structure, demographics and community statistics to consider, and how to successfully navigate the board position search process.
This session covers key terms, processes, and questions related to joining and serving on a Board of Directors. Additional topics covered include understanding financial and liability commitments, critical considerations, and the difference between working and governing boards. We recommend only first-time Board Members, or brand-new Board Members who’ve not had an official orientation yet attend this training. This is designed to be a 101-level class, with space for questions, answers, and general discourse to meet all participants’ needs. Registration is $90/person for virtual and $100/person for in-person. Contact us about large group discounts (10+).
