Supervision & Workforce Development Initiative for Candidates
The Supervision and Workforce Development Initiative, spearheaded by Spark the Change Colorado’s Mental Wellness Program, is designed to address a critical need in the mental health field: providing accessible clinical supervision to aspiring mental health professionals, especially those facing financial barriers. This initiative aims to bolster the mental health workforce by ensuring that candidates have the necessary support and guidance to complete their licensure requirements and develop into competent, ethical, and effective practitioners.

By supporting the development of skilled professionals, especially those hindered by financial constraints, the initiative not only aids individual careers but also contributes significantly to the broader field of mental health care.

- Matching Candidates with Clinical Supervisors: The program connects candidates with experienced, licensed mental health professionals who volunteer to provide supervision.
- Professional Growth Opportunities: Through SparKnowledge's Mental Wellness Continuing Education, candidates have the opportunity to engage in professional development workshops, available at no or minimal (low) cost, aimed at augmenting their skills and expertise. Additionally, candidates will benefit from access to a dedicated SharePoint containing a wealth of mental health resources.
- Networking Engagement: Candidates are encouraged to participate in community mental health initiatives, aligning practical experience with community service.

Program Eligibility
Target Audience: The initiative primarily targets recent graduates or early-career mental health professionals who require supervised clinical hours for licensure but face financial challenges.
Application Requirements: Applicants must complete an application that comprehensively overviews their academic history, career aspirations, and financial status. In return for offering mental health counseling services as a volunteer in the Mental Wellness Program of four hours each month, candidates may be eligible to receive complimentary clinical supervision.

Step 6: Become Matched with a Clinical Supervisor
Step 7: Fulfill Spark Requirements
Once a match is established, you'll receive an email with Spark requirements, including:
- Register for one of our Informational Sessions. After completion of the Informational Session, each participant will receive a follow-up email inviting them to submit an application.
Step 2: Prepare Your Documents
- Update your Resume
- Apply for a DORA License (as a Candidate)
- Secure Liability Insurance for a Mental Health Provider
- Check your email for the invitation to apply for clinical supervision through Spark the Change Colorado
Step 3: Submit Application
- There are several components to the Mental Wellness Program Application, including the Candidates Seeking Clinical Supervision Summary Form, which includes: Personal Information, Professional Goals, Financial & Other Barriers, Experience and Skills, Areas of Interest, Motivation for Volunteering, Commitment to Volunteering and more.

- Eligibility assessment
Step 5: Onboarding Process & Acceptance
- Background Check
- Reference checks
- Onboarding is complete
- Meet the Mental Wellness Team
- Orientation
- Connect to the SharePoint
Step 6: Become Matched with a Clinical Supervisor
- A Spark Manager will send your Candidates Seeking Clinical Supervision Form to clinical supervisors to review for a potential match.
Step 7: Fulfill Spark Requirements
Once a match is established, you'll receive an email with Spark requirements, including:
- Fulfilling 4 hours a month of volunteering in desired program
- Submitting a Volunteer Impact Report once a quarter
