Be Proactive with the Mental Wellness Task Force
The Mental Wellness Task Force of Southern Colorado aims to build a network of individuals and organizations and build a toolbox of mental health resources through collaboration, education, connections, and action.
Our Story: The Mental Wellness Task Force of Southern Colorado was formed in response to a tragic youth suicide, which acted as a catalyst for the community to come together. In the wake of this event, a diverse group of individuals and organizations convened to explore and learn about the mental health resources available in Southern Colorado. This meeting highlighted the necessity for a more formalized group to address mental wellness in the region, leading to the creation of the Mental Wellness Task Force in 2023. Their mission evolved from this foundational gathering, aiming to build a robust network of support and resources dedicated to mental health.
The Mental Wellness Task Force of Southern Colorado quickly gained momentum as volunteers, mental health professionals, educators, and community members united in their commitment to fostering a culture of mental well-being. Through collaborative efforts and shared experiences, the task force embarked on various initiatives to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and increase access to mental health services in the region.
One of the key projects undertaken by the task force was the development of the Annual Suicide Memory Walk to create a safe space for open dialogue and connection among survivors. This event not only provided valuable resources but also fostered a sense of belonging and understanding among those navigating a suicide loss.
As the Mental Wellness Task Force continued to grow and expand its reach, their impact on the community became increasingly evident. By building bridges between individuals, services, and resources, they played a vital role in promoting mental wellness and resilience in Southern Colorado. Today, the collective efforts of the task force serve as a beacon of hope and support for those in need, embodying the spirit of compassion and unity that defined their mission.
