Spark has initiated an ongoing "Movement of Good" campaign in response to the 2022 shooting at Club Q in Colorado Springs, which targeted the LGBTQ+ community. This is just one of many heartbreaking acts of violence that have impacted Colorado communities. We believe the only way to combat anger, violence, and ignorance is with love, community, and understanding. Every person has the ability to make an impact. We invite you to join The Movement of Good!
The Movement creates space in community for art, conversation, and education around the prevalent problem of hate and how it fuels violence. We engage individuals in community projects that promote and celebrate diversity, equity, inclusion, and the vital belonging of every individual. Events also spark tangible, inspirational actions of good across Colorado like service projects, donation drives, community conversations, and educational opportunities. If enough of us can spread this message of love and belonging, we can drown out the hate.

Upcoming Events:
- Spark the Change Colorado's 1st Annual Juneteenth Day of Service will be provided in partnership with Vickers Boys and Girls Club engaging youth with Movement of Good projects- Kindness Scrolls, SPARK Bracelets, and MOG Buttons- as well as a food packing service project by Harvest Pack benefiting the Parkhill community. A thank you to our generous sponsors, The Colorado Health Foundation and Starbucks!
- Southern Colorado will spark a satellite Juneteenth Day of Service at the Pueblo Food Project Community Garden Event engaging volunteers of all ages with a Movement of Good Kindness Scroll project.

Spark provided a Lunch & Learn all about Points of Light and The Civic Circle at The Center on Colfax. Participants added to our Kindness Scroll project and were asked to use the power of their voice and join us in our #MovementofGood!

Women Powering Change 2023
We were so excited to join the Women Powering Change event for 2023 at the Denver Center for Performing Arts during International Women's Week and National Women's History Month! 60+ vendors and nearly 1,000 attendees came together to raise awareness and connection for work being done locally and internationally to address and solve the issues we all face, social, political, cultural, etc.
Alchemy: Healthy Denver Inc. Annual Art Exhibit
We had so much fun being a part of Healthy Denver Inc.'s Alchemy Art Show! Becca Gibbs-Thompson and Sharon Thompson (pictured below) are the dynamic duo that Co-Founded Healthy Denver Inc., and support many nonprofits in the area. Their Alchemy Art Show included amazing art, but also benefitted Hope and Homes for Children, who work with families, local partners, and governments to achieve the goal of making orphanages history. We were honored to provide a Kindness Scroll for youth and adults, alike, to share what community and belonging means to them. Thank you to all those who participated and joined the #MovementofGood!
Arapahoe Community College: Ebony Resource Fair February 2023
We were honored to participate in Arapahoe Community College's (ACC) 2023 Ebony Resource Fair! When ACC's employee group noticed their community's lack of resources that support and empower students of color, they wanted to present an opportunity for all students to learn about the great resources available to them. Spark was so happy to be included in the resource fair, sharing about our opportunities for volunteering, our Mental Wellness Program, and our #MovementofGood campaign.

The Marade publicly kicked off our Movement of Good campaign with our first Kindness Scrolls project. Individuals and families visited Spark's table at the Marade to sign our scroll with messages of kindness, love, and hope, then shared photos on social media with the hashtag #MovementofGood to show that, together, we stand with and support the LGBTQIA Community. Scrolls will be prominently displayed at partner organization locations across the state and available for virtual viewing soon. If enough of us can spread this message of love and belonging, we can drown out the hate!

Spark Board & Staff Party: January 2023
Our staff and board decided that the Spark would start with us! We held a board and staff gathering on Tue. Jan. 10th where we piloted two of our #MovementofGood projects, our Kindness Scrolls and Spark Bracelets. It was truly inspiring to have a space to connect and, while participating in fun, creative, artistic activities, we felt more open and comfortable digging into uncomfortable topics. It was a great start to the impact we hope to make in our communities with the #MovementofGood. We look forward to more opportunities to create spaces of support, love, and kindness that show we are all in this together and a part of something great!
