About Us:Colorado youth are experiencing a mental health crisis. According to the Mental Health Center of Denver, death by suicide among young people is a rising health crisis in Denver, in fact, Denver is outpacing the national statistics by nearly 2-to-1.
Lack of access is also a major issue in Colorado with 63.1% of youth with major depression not receiving any mental health treatment. The ratio of school psychologist to children is 1 : 1,578. The ratio of school social workers to children is 1 : 2,258.
Spark Health Corps:Funded through a Public Health AmeriCorps Grant, Spark the Change manages and operates Spark Health Corps. This workforce development initiative engages graduate interns, mental health professionals, non-traditional students, and individuals interested in school-based mental health careers as Mental Health Associates.

Associates provide ~20 hours/week of direct service in under resourced K-12 schools across the state. Associates receive: free clinical supervision support, access to continuing education opportunities, an education award, and a monthly stipend.
